First trailer showing some of Hearts of Iron 3 was published at http://www.gamer.no/videoer/6056 (mirror). Not much can be seen there, but map seems nicely 2D just as it should be in game of this kind. For the rest it's not possible to judge even remotely. Game is schedule for third quarter of 2009 which means it's about year until release. Plenty of time yet.

Today, Paradox Interactive revealed true identity of project codenamed MAYHEM. As many of us anticipated, it's third installment of World War 2 grand strategy game Hearts of Iron. According to official announcement, Hearts of Iron 3 should introduce "multitude of brand new features and systems" and map counting more then 10k provinces.

Johan introduced idea Paradox weights right now to the masses on their forums. It's about them releasing source code of their older games (under NDA) and let community tweak it, create expansions/booster packs and have share of their sales on Gamersgate. Paradox announced they'll release Collectors Edition of the entire Hearts of Iron series called Hearts of Iron Anthology. It'll include Hearts of Iron, Hearts of Iron II, Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday and Booster pack Armageddon. Additionally, they hope to attract people who already own these by including Paradox medal and printed world map in the box. It'll cost $29.99/€29.99 and should be released in August.

If your monitor has native resolution of 1280x1024 or other higher than Doomsday's default 1024x768, you may want to use Pegasus Hexa Wizard. Program was updated since it contained minor bug. Settings now contain also higher resolution settings for Doomsday 1.3a. I recommend download of program even if you already have it.

The purpose of this program is very simple: to automate things and make your life easier. If you are one of those who do not want to do bother with any hexaediting of the Hearts of Iron, Hearts of Iron 2. Europa Universalis 2, Victoria or Crusader Kings, this program is probably the right one for you.

Setting up everything for multiplayer isn't that easy when the games played are those made by Paradox Interactive. There are few things you need to keep in mind. Sometimes you need to dwell little more into configuration of your router than you'd like and it often needs lot of patience, but it's doable. Let's take a look at it closer.
